Day 14: Madrid

We got to Madrid a couple of hours late, so from the train they decided to give everyone a credit for ½ off. We got a ticket for free, it was awesome!! We got to Madrid still too early to check into our hostal, so we dropped our luggage and headed over to the see what was in the area. We walked around, went to some shops, had lunch and went back so we could check in. As we walked into our room, the first thing we both noticed was that we had our own bathroom! It was awesome!! (every place since this one was sharing bathrooms) I took a nice long hot shower; it is so nice to have your own bathroom! We left our room about 3ish, headed out to check out Prado Museum and Plaza Mayor. I didn’t find Plaza Mayor special, it reminded me of a smaller version St Marks Square in Venice. (Venice was def better!) We then headed out to get some dinner. It was pretty hard to find a place that served paella and vegetarian food for some reason, in Barcelona everyone had it. We finally find this small restaurant and can accomodate us both. I get spaghetti and Rahul orders seafood paella and calamari. Well, we're sitting next to the front window where they have all this fresh meats, apparently that's what they use to make the food. Rahul got his fresh calamar, he had a couple of bits but couldn't handle it b/c it wasn't processed food! He said it was the best he's ever tasted, but just wasn't used to the taste of it...we had some gelato to end the night.
